Meet Amy Wesolek

Amy (she/her) and her wife Danielle (she/her) chose Takoma Park as their home over 12 years ago.  In that time, they have welcomed two daughters into their Hillwood Manor home, and Amy has taken an active role in their neighborhood association.

Originally from North Plainfield, New Jersey, Amy moved to the area to attend George Washington University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in women’s studies and psychology, and a master’s degree in public administration/nonprofit management.

Amy’s career has focused on the nonprofit and public sector. Previously, she worked as director of membership for a large Unitarian Universalist church in Washington, and assistant director of development for George Washington University. Most recently, she has focused on raising her children and volunteering at their cooperative schools, including serving for two years as board president at Silver Spring Nursery School.

Amy’s biggest strength is bringing together diverse members of a community to achieve progress. She is a clear communicator who knows how to listen to competing viewpoints, and an effective leader who will plan and implement solutions.

Amy is eager to represent Ward 6 on the Takoma Park City Council, ensuring the community is welcoming and supportive of all its residents.
